  What are the differences between self-priming pumps and centrifugal pumps?

  A pump with self-priming capabilities is called a self-priming pump. It is a positive displacement pump and is divided into self-priming centrifugal pumps and self-priming magnetic pumps. Ordinary centrifugal pumps do not have self-priming capabilities, so there are differences between self-priming pumps and traditional centrifugal pumps. Today, let's explain these differences.

  Working principle and performance characteristics of self-priming pumps

  This machine has advantages such as compact structure, convenient operation, stable operation, easy maintenance, high efficiency, long service life, and strong natural aspiration working capacity. It does not require the installation of a bottom gate valve in the pipeline; only ensuring that there is a certain amount of analytical liquid in the pump casing is sufficient for operation. Self-priming pumps with different raw materials can be used for different liquid media.

  Differences between centrifugal pumps and self-priming centrifugal pumps

  1. Before starting, a certain amount of starting cooling circulating water should be injected into the pump's bow before the first start of the self-priming pump. At the same time, when the centrifugal pump starts, water should be in the inlet and pump body, or vacuum should be used with auxiliary equipment underwater coagulation inlet.

  2. On mechanical equipment, self-priming pumps only need to install a filter screen, and there is no pump bottom valve below the inlet. Centrifugal pumps should have a pump bottom valve installed below the inlet pipe or vacuum equipment at the outlet.

  3. During operation, self-priming centrifugal pumps with the same technical parameters have lower efficiency and worse cavitation performance than centrifugal pumps. When the centrifugal natural aspiration pump of this utility model operates, it needs to go through three complete processes: removing the steam from the centrifugal impeller, reasonably performing gas-liquid separation, and the separated water continuously returning to the centrifugal impeller. Depending on the location of the gas-liquid mixture, gas-liquid mixing and self-priming centrifugal pumps can be divided into internal mixing and external mixing types. The water flow in the gas-liquid separation chamber returns to the centrifugal impeller channel, causing the water to mix with the centrifugal impeller channel. The gas-liquid mixture at the edge of the centrifugal impeller at the inlet of the centrifugal impeller in the gas-liquid separation chamber is called an external mixing self-priming centrifugal pump.

  Characteristics of ordinary self-priming pumps

  1. When starting a self-priming pump, it is not necessary to add water (for example, the casing needs enough water). After short-term operation, the air in the suction pipe can be completely removed automatically, and the feeding cutting is normal. Before each start of the self-priming pump, enough water must be added to the pump cavity to ensure that the water in the pump is fully started, so that everything can work normally.

  2. According to the structure and principle of self-priming pumps, they can be divided into gas-liquid composite (internal composite and external composite), water ring self-priming pumps, and water jet (high-pressure water jet) pumps.
