  As a commonly used drainage and irrigation equipment, mixed flow pumps may encounter various issues during operation. Below, we share some common malfunctions and troubleshooting methods for mixed flow pumps.

  1. Overheating of the transmission shaft or motor bearings

  Analysis of the causes of problems such as insufficient lubricating oil or bearing cracks.

  Solution: Add lubricating oil or replace the bearings.

  2. The mixed flow pump cannot drain water.

  Analysis of the causes of this problem: The pump body and suction pipe are not filled with water; the dynamic water level is below the pump filter pipe; the suction pipe is broken, etc.

  Solution: Eliminate bottom valve malfunction and add water; lower the pump's installation position so that the filter pipe is below the moving water level, or wait for the water level to rise and restart the filter pipe pump; or replace the suction pipe.

  3. Excessive power consumption of the mixed flow pump

  Analysis of the causes of the problem: Excessive pump speed; pump shaft bending or not parallel to the motor shaft; improper pump head; pump suction of sludge or blockage; motor damage, etc.

  Solution: Check the circuit voltage and reduce the pump speed; correct the pump's main shaft or adjust the relative direction of the pump and motor; select a suitable pump for lifting; remove sludge or stones; replace the motor's rolling bearings.

  4. Severe vibration or noise from the mixed flow pump body

  Analysis of the causes of the problem: Unstable or excessively high pump installation; damaged motor ball bearings; pump shaft bending or different from the main motor shaft, not parallel, etc.

Solution: Install a stable pump or lower the pump installation height; replace the motor's rolling bearings; correct the bent pump shaft or adjust the relative direction between the pump and motor.

  In addition, the paint on the surface of the mixed flow pump serves two purposes: one is to improve its appearance; the other is to enhance its corrosion resistance. Therefore, the selection of surface paint for mixed flow pumps needs to pay attention to some methods and techniques, and first of all, the performance of the product must be guaranteed.

  Conventional industrial anticorrosion coatings are used, and steel structure anticorrosion coatings are good primers. Choose a high-performance topcoat with low surface treatment (rusty, wet coating), as it only requires manual rust removal or simple surface treatment of st2-st3 level, which can greatly save pretreatment costs and labor time.

Coating life directly affects the service life of the mixed flow pump. Because mixed flow pumps work in environments with high air humidity for a long time, sandblasting is inconvenient or careless, which will leave potential corrosion risks. If the pretreatment does not meet the standard, it will seriously affect the coating life. Many pump stations need to shut down for maintenance, causing collateral economic losses. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the selection of surface paint for mixed flow pumps.
